What I teach during my 3 hr Family Meetings P2

What I teach during my 3 hour Family Meetings Part 2

Read on my website / Read time: 4 minutes

Last week, I shared details about what I teach during our 3-hour family meetings.

Many of you were curious about the content, and I highlighted three key topics that we revisit each week:

  • The Body
  • The Mind
  • Their Behavior

This week, let's build on that and dive deeper into the next topic: The Mind.

Specifically, what does the mind need to reach its full potential? Ask this question and encourage your children to share their thoughts. Then, guide them with the following points to help them understand how their own minds work.

Input: A brain is like a computer—what you put in is what you get out. Therefore, we need to be mindful of the inputs we provide to our brains.

Type of Input: Ask your children, "What are the various inputs for the brain?" Let them answer, then add examples: what we see (books, device screens), what we hear (podcasts, radio, lectures), and sometimes even what we touch can be important.

Output: Have your children consider if they have ever seen someone misbehave or heard someone use foul language. Let them answer. Explain that by observing someone's output, we gain insights into their inputs. For instance, if we hear someone using foul language, it might suggest they were never taught how to use more suitable language.

Now, if we look at our own behavior, what would it take for us to be the best at anything we do? Allow your children to guess. Then clarify: we must have the very best inputs in order to ensure we have the very best outputs. That is—for us to be the very best we can be we must read, watch and listen to the very best material.

Next week I will review the topic: Their Behavior.

It's an honor to have you read my newsletter. If you could read my 1 question below and respond, I would greatly appreciate it.
